OUR COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

A long-standing champion of CSR, our commitment to giving back focuses on three key areas; Fundraising, Community, and Environment.

FUNDRAISING

GCS has partnered with numerous charities over the years, from the British Heart Foundation to the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT). Our charity partner is decided by a company vote, ensuring that the cause we are working for is something close to everyone's heart.

In 2015/16 we supported Bliss, the premature and sick baby charity and are proud to have raised more than £16,000 for such a worthy cause.

Our 2016/17 charities are CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) in Ireland and the Loganberry Trust in the UK. GCS will be supporting The Loganberry Trust, a new charity created by GCS Quality, Risk & Compliance Manager, Kevin Logan, to spread awareness and screen for prostate cancer - a disease Kevin himself was diagnosed with in 2015.

We participate in a wide variety of fundraising activities which, over the last few years, have ranged from marathons, mountain climbs, assault courses, rugby matches and parachute dives to comparatively lower intensity events such as tube station collections, hamper raffles and the always-popular coffee and cake mornings.

Proud and supportive of our charity-conscious team, we operate a fundraising pound-matching scheme. We match everything rasied by our staff ensuring our charitable efforts go twice as far.

COMMUNITY

We are proud of the locations we operate and we are committed to giving back to our local communities in any way we can. 

Knowledge-sharing is at the centre of our work with the local community as we partner with both the Reading Jobs Club and London's St. Mungo's Broadway - groups which, respectively, help the long-term unemployed and the recently homeless find their way back into the world of work. 

We also work with schools, colleages and universities to provide career advice, guidance and support to help improve their student's employability skills.

THE ENVIRONMENT

We are committed to making GCS an environmentally friendly organisation and we are continually reviewing our processes to ensure they are as green as possible. Enthusiastic recyclers, we have also put a car sharing scheme into place and our paper consumption has been reduced following our move to an online timesheet and invoicing portal.
