The company

A private company founded in 1947, Bupa has offered health insurance to the UK for over 65 years. Over the years, the business has diversified its offering to include travel insurance, care homes and occupational health service, and continues to evolve into a market-leading multinational healthcare company.

The challenge

Due to continued growth, Bupa required a permanent head of risk, reporting to the chief risk officer. As a result of increased demand, the role had to be filled within an eight week timeframe, despite Bupa having been unable to find a suitable applicant for ten months. 


The solution

As a result of a deep understanding of the risk and compliance sector within insurance, GCS was immediately able to identify three highly skilled professionals that met Bupa’s requirements. Two of the three were interviewed and the chosen individual was placed within a month, well within the initial timeframe. Bupa were so impressed with the risk professionals they interviewed, the recently created a director of risk and compliance role for the other candidate they interviewed for this position.
